Nearshore Nexus 2013 was a great success! Congratulations to the NSAM for team putting together the only conference dedicated exclusively to the Nearshore Outsourcing Industry. The event was filled with great discussions, panelists and speakers.

The Nearshore Executive Alliance was well represented at the conference. Mike Barrett, CEO at Unosquare and Vice Chairman of the NEA delivered a keynote titled “Real People and Real Social Impact”. He addressed the social impact of nearshoring, bringing the “human side” of sourcing by introducing the audience to one of Unosquare’s employees: Gabriel, a senior Java engineer. Mike used Gabriel’s example to portrait the socioeconomic status, family dynamics and personal social responsibility resulting from the Nearshore industry in Latin America. During lunch, Alex Camino, VP Marketing & Communications at Softek and founding member of the NEA gave a toast and talked about the 15 years of Softek in the Nearshore industry.

Atul Vashistha, CEO of the Neo Group and Chairman of the NEA joined three other expert panelists in the “Sourcing Domestic or Sourcing Foreign: Where’s the Smart Money Going?” session. Strong arguments were presented towards the need for contextual understanding in outsourcing decisions.

Later in the afternoon Bruno Guicardi, President of North America for Ci&T and board member of the NEA, explained the types of IT specializations offered in Brazil as part of the “Brasil IT+: Collaborating to Meet Productivity and Competitive Goals” panel.

Finally, Rebeca Hassan - Executive Director of the Nearshore Executive Alliance- had the opportunity to present the mission of the NEA to all the attendees during a short but precise appearance.

The NEA will get together again on May 14th at the SIG Global Sourcing Summit. We are looking forward to it!
