In early October, the SIG Summit played host to the Nearshore Executive Alliance for its fall board meeting. In addition, our board members were also invited to lead some discussions in parallel to the event.
The first session, Global Outsourcing Trends and the Role of Latin America, provided an overview of the current state of the nearshore outsourcing industry, specifically focusing on how companies in Latin America are available with cost effective, high quality solutions. The session zeroed in on specific geographies and highlighted the pros and cons of each, fostering a lively discussion in which many of the audience members shared their own experiences in ITO and BPO.
NEA Chairman Atul Vashistha led this discussion, with panelists Alex Camino and Cesar Donofrio from LatAm providers Softtek and Common Sense respectively, as well as Julia Santos, Head of Global Sourcing at Johnson & Johnson and Ann Harts, Principal at Hickey & Associates, a global site selection and public incentive management company.
In the second session at the event, Vice Chairman of the NEA, Mike Barrett moderated a panel discussion regarding best practices in nearshore. The conversation and case studies illustrated to the audience the evolution of nearshore locations and how they have been successful in delivering value beyond more traditional outsourcing destinations like India. One subject was the ability of the LatAm workforce to deliver beyond simply the commodity service and provide multi-national companies with innovative solutions that have real impact on their business. The audience in this session expressed a desire to leverage nearshore, and during an informal poll, twice as many people indicated they planned to implement nearshore solutions in the upcoming year, as compared to those that currently do so.
Panelists for this session included representatives from four key nearshore services providers including DJ Edgerton, CEO of Zemoga, Marcelo Gomez da Costa, CMO at Neoris, Bruno Guicardi, COO for Ci&T and Steve Rudderham, VP at CapGemini.
